IN MEMORY OF OUR LINDEY BLUE
ABOUT LINDEY BLUE Lindey blue was a ferret, bought on may 26 1999. We obtained him from a pet store. When we bought Lindey, we were told he was 13 weeks old, had all his shots, and was a healthy ferret from Marshall Pets. This was out first ferret. Lindey started showing signs of illness from the start. He had loose stools, wasn't eating much, and was tired a lot. He was not very active. We kind of thought it was of being in a new place, since when he was up he was very active. On the 15th of June, Lindey got very ill. The vet gave him ivs and antibiotis, told us to keep fluids down him, and to give him keopectate. He bagan to show signs of getting better. On the 20th he got very ill again, and would not accept anything, no matter how we tried to administer it. He died that day. I called the vet the next day, and told him the symptoms he had that sunday, and how Lindey died, The vet told me it was probably distemper by what was described to him.
The pet store was contacted, and he told us that Maarshall Pets had a gurantee for the ferret, and we would have to contact them. I was already taking to Marshall Pets, so I went to pick up the Marshall Pets information from the pet owner, which he should have given me when I bought the ferret. Mary, the lady from Marshall Pets told me that they did not gurantee a ferret that dies from a virus and that it was in the paper work I had. She also did not have a listing for this pet store to be a distributor of their ferrets. I called the pet store and told the owner that Lindey died of distemper, and that Marshall Pets did not gurantee a ferret that dies of a virus. I also told him that the ferret showed signs of sickeness from the beginnig, and that he died very soon after I bought him. I ask the man what I was supppose to do now, and he said, " put ketchup on him and eat him.", and then he hung up. I had just taken Lindey's body to the vet to be cremated. What he said made me cry very badly. THE PET STORE'S RESPONSE
OUR 2 NEW LOVES BOO BOO AND MINDY BLUE :-) Mary, from Marshall Pets was so moved by the story, that she gave my husband and I a new Ferret. We call her Blacky Boo. She is now the same age Lindey was when he died. She is so full of energy, and loves to give kisses. When she wants to be picked up she licks the inside of my legg. We also bought an albino female from Linda Harra in Buckeye Lake, Ohio. Her Name is Mindy Blue she is now about nine weeks old, and has begun to chase everything around, and she loves to give kisses. When my husband took her in his arms, you could see the love and healing taking place in his eyes. Now we are trying to get our lives back together. Whenever you buy a pet from a pet store make sure to get all information about the pet in writing- date of shots, what shots are still needed, age, receipt, and any gurantees. Find out what there return and death policy is. Look around see how clean the cages and containers for the animals are. Watch to see if they handle the animals, and how they handle them. Listen to see how much they know about that certain type of animal. You can tell what kind of a pet store it is by doing this. Joyce and Michael.
